Saints,
If you read Nehemiah chapter 5. You'll discover Nehemiah restoring honesty amongst his people. He shares in verse 9 the following:
Then I pressed further, “What you are doing is not right! Should you not walk in the fear of our God in order to avoid being mocked by enemy nations?
- What is Usury?
- the illegal action or practice of lending money at unreasonably high rates of interest:
The King James Bible mentions it 15 times in the Old Testament and twice in the NT. Yet, one of my favorite areas is Psalms chapter 15 where verses 1-4 I stood on for about 14 years now. Then the beauty of verse 5 is icing on the cake. There is nothing like walking and abiding on the holy hill of God in meekness and temperance and leaving all the consequences with the LORD. Exodus 22:25-28 is a great warning against usury and God fights against such filth on behalf of the poor, because He is gracious!
Psalms 15:1-5 (KJV)
1 LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

Proverbs 28:8
He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
