2 Chronicles 33:10-13
10 Now the LORD spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they paid no attention.
11 So the LORD brought the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria against them, and they captured Manasseh with hooks [through his nose or cheeks] and bound him with bronze [chains] and took him to Babylon. (AMP)
12 But while in deep distress, Manasseh sought the LORD his God and sincerely humbled himself before the God of his ancestors.
13 And when he prayed, the LORD listened to him and was moved by his request. So the LORD brought Manasseh back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh finally realized that the LORD alone is God!
Saints,
Manasseh reigned 55 years and for the most part a disgrace to society. Between him and the 1st King of Israel Saul (1 Samuel 22:19) who killed 85 priests with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and nursing infants, oxen and donkeys and sheep because of his jealousy of the anointing upon King David.
God in His infinite mercy showed these two jerks grace beyond everything.
How much more will God stand in the gap and demonstrate His infinite mercy (kindness) to one who is suffering in righteousness?
I say to myself and unto all the following passages ..
1 Peter 1:6-7
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
1 Peter 4:12-13
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
Isaiah 49:4
Then I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in empty futility; yet surely my vindication is with the Lord, and my recompense is with my God.
Philippians 2:16
Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
